David Robinson
Director of Planning, Information and Compliance, Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin)
David is Director of Planning, Information and Compliance at Technological University Dublin, having recently moved into the role following an extensive career in senior digital and technology leadership. In this new position, he is building on more than two decades of experience in higher education, bringing a strong understanding of institutional strategy, information, governance, digital capability and organisational change.
Prior to taking up his current role, David served as Chief Information Officer at TU Dublin, where he led the strategic development and governance of digital and technology services across one of Ireland’s largest higher-education institutions. His responsibilities included digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, data integration and University-wide service operations, supporting TU Dublin’s ambition to be an agile, technology-enabled university that empowers excellence in learning, research and innovation.
Before joining TU Dublin, David held key technology leadership roles at Queen’s University Belfast, where he contributed to major digital initiatives, strengthened core IT services and supported the institution’s teaching, research and administrative missions. Across both universities, he has consistently focused on developing resilient, effective services and improving the experience of staff and students.
David’s professional interests span strategic planning, information and data-driven decision-making, governance and compliance, digital transformation, IT strategy and cybersecurity maturity. His current role provides an opportunity to apply this breadth of experience to a wider institutional portfolio while continuing to draw on the digital leadership expertise developed throughout his career.
He also contributes actively to sector-wide collaboration as a committee member of the UCISA All Ireland Directors Community and chair of the Corporate Information Systems Group conference committee, promoting knowledge exchange and leadership across Irish and UK higher-education institutions.
Drawing on extensive experience of leading change in complex environments, David brings a strategic, collaborative and results-driven perspective to his work. He welcomes the opportunity to contribute to Asiera’s strategic mission and to support its continued leadership in delivering secure, resilient and future-ready infrastructure and services for Ireland’s education and research sectors.
