Setting a clear direction for Ireland’s digital future in education and research.

Asiera has launched its Strategy 2026–2030, setting out an ambitious vision for the organisation and its role in advancing digital excellence across Ireland’s education and research community.
The Strategy was officially launched at the Asiera office in August, bringing colleagues together to mark an important milestone in the development of the newly formed organisation.
Opening the event, Asiera Chairperson, Professor Mike Murphy, welcomed colleagues and highlighted the importance of having a clear and shared direction as Asiera begins this new chapter.
The launch also featured presentations from Niall Kelly, Head of Strategic Development, and Karen Thornton, Director of Strategy & Business Planning, CEO Office, who provided an insight into the development of the Strategy and the priorities that will shape Asiera’s work over the next four years.
A strategy for the next chapter
The Asiera Strategy builds on the combined expertise, experience and capabilities of HEAnet and EduCampus, bringing them together under a shared vision:
To empower education and research through digital excellence.
The Strategy sets out Asiera’s ambition to become Ireland’s Digital Partner for Education and Research, supporting clients and partners through innovative digital solutions, resilient infrastructure, trusted services and strong collaboration.
Six strategic focus areas will guide this work through to 2030:
Digital Network Infrastructure | Strengthening resilient, scalable and sustainable connectivity across Ireland’s education and research community.
Security and Digital Trust | Enhancing cyber resilience, security capabilities and digital trust in an increasingly complex digital environment.
Research and International Collaboration | Supporting research infrastructure, innovation and collaboration nationally and internationally.
Digital Information Platforms |Developing shared digital services, data capabilities and platforms that enable greater efficiency, interoperability and insight.
People and Culture | Investing in our people, developing future-ready skills and fostering an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing organisation.
Sustainability | Embedding environmental responsibility, social impact and financial sustainability across Asiera’s activities.
Turning ambition into impact
The Strategy provides a framework for how Asiera will continue to develop its services and capabilities while responding to the evolving needs of the sectors it serves.
Collaboration sits at the heart of this approach. By working closely with clients, partners and the wider education and research community, Asiera aims to identify emerging opportunities, respond to changing requirements and deliver solutions that create meaningful and lasting impact.
The Strategy is underpinned by five core values: Collaboration, Equality & Fairness, Future Focused, Positive Impact and Excellence. These values reflect not only what Asiera aims to achieve, but how it intends to work with its community and with each other.
The launch event provided an opportunity for colleagues to explore these ambitions and consider how teams across Asiera can contribute to delivering the Strategy.
Looking towards 2030
The launch of the Asiera Strategy 2026–2030 marks the beginning of an exciting new phase for the organisation.
Over the coming years, Asiera will build on its strong foundations while developing new services, capabilities and partnerships to support a connected, secure, innovative and sustainable future for education and research in Ireland.
With a clear strategic direction and a shared commitment to digital excellence, Asiera is looking ahead to 2030 with ambition, collaboration and a focus on positive impact.
