Asiera Welcomes Transition Year Students

Asiera Welcomes Transition Year Students for Second Annual Work Experience Programme.

Asiera welcomed eleven Transition Year students to participate in its second five-day Work Experience Programme, offering participants a comprehensive introduction to careers across business and technology.

Introduced and designed by Asiera’s HR & Learning and Development Coordinator, Sarah-Jane Priestley, the programme was created to provide students with practical insight into professional environments. The programme delivered a structured and engaging experience that showcased the breadth of roles and opportunities within Asiera. The cohort included three boys and eight girls, recruited through a combination of staff networks and the STEM Passport for Inclusion initiative, a partnership that reflects Asiera’s ongoing commitment to broadening access to STEM education and career pathways.

Throughout the week, students engaged in a diverse programme of sessions covering areas such as cyber security networks, ethical hacking, technical architecture, research, programme management and service delivery, project management, finance, legal careers, people operations, marketing and PR, business storytelling, EDI and ESG, workplace wellbeing, women in sports, and interactive workshops led by the Schools Team. These sessions were designed to expose students to both technical and non-technical career paths, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of modern organisations.

In addition to learning from subject matter experts, participants took part in CV preparation and interview skills workshops, equipping them with practical tools to support their future career development. The week culminated in a mini business project, allowing students to apply their newly acquired knowledge in a collaborative and hands-on setting.

The programme delivered an energetic and inspiring experience for both students and staff, reinforcing Asiera’s commitment to supporting the next generation as they explore potential career pathways and develop essential workplace skills.
